Sunil “Sunny” Eappen, MD, MBA, senior vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer (CMO) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, was appointed the Brigham’s interim president, effective March 1.
Eappen is a widely respected leader at the Brigham and throughout the Mass General Brigham system. Known for his exceptional ability to build collaborative partnerships, Eappen has been integral to advancing the Brigham and Mass General Brigham’s mission, leading numerous efforts focused on improving clinical care and the patient experience. He has served as the interim leader for Brigham equity efforts since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and has been the Brigham representative for Mass General Brigham United Against Racism.
