This fall, the Outpatient Infusion Center at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital moved to a beautiful, renovated location on the hospital’s third floor. Led by gastroenterologist Muthoka Mutinga, MD (pictured above right), who is the center’s medical director, the new, spacious therapy suite offers extraordinary, personalized care for patients whose medical issues can include gastrointestinal disease, immune system problems, or pain management for arthritis and headache.

With stunning big-picture views of the nearby Arnold Arboretum, the new infusion unit offers patients a calm, more comfortable treatment setting that fosters healing and recovery. Soothing surroundings are important because infusion therapy can be stressful, especially if patients require daylong treatment sessions. The unit’s features include reclining chairs, more private treatment bays, internet access, individual televisions, and spacious waiting and reception areas. In addition, the new space increases the team’s ability to offer treatment for both scheduled patients and—when necessary and appropriate—add-on patients who need same-day therapy.
